Strong WSW wind at liberation with fine & sunny conditions. Birds held back until 12:00pm due to strong tail winds expected. Only a handful of birds were able to make the most of the conditions & ended out in front of the pack. Fastest in the Federation this week was taken out by Ray Wonson of Towradgi, clocking a two year old boy. Ray's bird was a whopping 9 minutes in front of the next bird on corrected time. Second in the Fed went to John 'JJ' Hamilton of Woonona-Bulli RSL. clocking a young boy. Third place went to Archie McNeice from Berkely club clockng a young Grizzle hen. Don't forget that nominations are due this week for the InterFed challenge race between the SCF & CCF flyers. The race is scheduled for 2nd Eden.. Light West winds with sunny cool conditions. Birds released at 10:00am, with the birds arriving earlier than expected. Fastest in the Federation this week was Peter Clarke of Albion Park-Oak Flats club, clocking a two year old hen. Second place went to Col Linnett of Berkeley club, also clocking a two year old hen. Third in the Fed this week was Jane & Andrew Carrington from Towradgi club with a young boy. The Junior Young Bird Derby was won by Luke Lamers from Towradgi. Second place went to Brycen Franke from Towradgi. Third place was taken by Michael Fielder also from the Towradgi club. The coming race from 2nd Eden is the Junior National. 2nd Eden will also see the running of the InterFed Challenge which is open to SCF & CCF flyers. Entry is open to any age bird for $5 per bird with a 5 bird limit. Nominations Thursday night will be accepted. Clocks are to be read at 8pm at the Woonona-Bulli RSL club on Saturday night only. Birds released at 8:00am, light to moderate SW to NW winds. Warm day with wind turning to NE during afternoon. The bids were tested this week with the winds turning to the North on the journey home. The winning pigeon had 6 minute gap on the rest of the field. Reports were that the birds returned tired but in reasonably good shape. Fastest in the Federation this week was Aiden Cavill from Dapto, clocking a young hen. Second position went to Paul & Kathy Breeze of Albion Park-Oak Flats club clocking a young hen. The start of the 2010 season was delayed by a couple of hours
due to rain in the morning. However by the time the birds were
released at 1:00pm the sun was out & the sky clearing of cloud.
The birds had to work into a 15-20 km/hr SE to SW wind.
Fastest in the Fed went to June & Graeme Davison from
Towradgi club, clocking a two year old hen. Second place went
to Richard & Heather Whitehead also of Towradgi & they
clocked a three year old boy. Third place was taken by Leo &

Birds released at 9:30am, light to moderate WNW winds but varying to WSW at times. There were only a few birds that managed to get in front of the rest. The best bird in the Fed was almost 15 minutes in front of the best birds outside the top 10. Fastest in the Federation this week was Joe Monteleone of the Ocean Beach club, clocking a young hen. Second position was taken by June & Graham Davison from the Towradgi club, with a young hen. Third place went to Leo & Terry Sylvester of Berkeley also clocking a young hen. This week's race from 2nd Mallacoota will see the running of the SCF Charity Race to raise fund for the ParaMeadows School. Entry is $30 with flyers to pick 3 birds & clock their best two to obtain an average velocity. Friday night we will be at the Fraternity Club for the sponsor's draw, loft auction & a special performance by students of the school. The fist race of the 2009 season was delayed by a day, with the committee deciding to delay basketing until Saturday night due to the poor forecast for Saturday.
Sunday's race was held on a partly cloudy day with 15-20 km ENE winds. The birds seemed to be finishing strongly from a good altitude. First in the federation went to Richard & Heather Whitehead of the Towradgi club clocking a two-year-old boy. Second place was won by Jane & Andrew Carrington of Towradgi with a young boy. Please find attached SCF race results for 1st Red Head. Saturdays race was held in sunny skies with a 15 km WSW wind which tended Southerly during the afternoon. Birds were liberated 8am after a delay due to poor visibility with dust & haze. Winds were light but soon increased to a strong & gusty NW wind. The temperature also soared - in excess of 30C in places along the journey home. The combination of extreme weather conditions & the late liberation really tested the birds with only 7 pigeons managing to make it home on the day. Fastest in the Fed this week was Paul Barnes. Extended rain bands & periods of gale force winds meant that the birds remained held over until Tuesday. Birds were liberated 6:30am with mainly blue skies & a light WNW wind. Returns from the race were pretty good all things considered & we have to thank the liberator for taking good care of the birds for an extended period. Fastest in the Fed this week was June & Graeme Davison of the Towradgi club clocking a young boy. In a special performance they timed 5 birds within a minute. Next best were Jane & Andrew Carrington also from Towradgi - they clocked a young hen.
